What is PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana?

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) is a Central Sector Scheme launched by the Government of India to provide income support to all landholding farmer families across the country. Under PM Kisan Yojana, eligible beneficiaries receive a financial benefit of ₹6,000 per year, paid in three equal installments of ₹2,000, directly transferred into their Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The scheme aims to supplement the financial needs of farmers for procuring various inputs related to agriculture and allied activities, as well as for domestic needs. Completion of PM Kisan Yojana KYC (e-KYC) is mandatory for all registered beneficiaries to continue receiving the installments.

Who is Eligible for PM Kisan Yojana?

All landholding farmer families in India, whose names appear in the land records of the concerned State/UT, are eligible to receive benefits under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, subject to the exclusion criteria below.

  • Small and marginal farmer families holding cultivable land.
  • Farmer family = husband, wife and minor children owning cultivable land.
  • Land records must exist in the beneficiary's name in State/UT records.
  • Aadhaar must be linked with the bank account for DBT.

  • Institutional landholders and families of constitutional post holders.
  • Former and present Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Mayors and District Panchayat Chairpersons.
  • Serving/retired Government employees (Group A, B & equivalent), PSU officers.
  • Pensioners drawing ₹10,000 or more per month (excluding Multi-Tasking Staff).
  • Persons who paid Income Tax in the last assessment year.
  • Professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, CAs and Architects practising professionally.

What is PM Kisan KYC (e-KYC)?

PM Kisan e-KYC is a one-time Aadhaar-based verification process made mandatory by the Government of India for all registered PM Kisan Samman Nidhi beneficiaries. The KYC verifies the farmer's identity and ensures that the ₹2,000 installments reach the rightful account. Farmers who do not complete PM Kisan Yojana KYC will not receive further installments until KYC is completed.
